Legal Secretary (2583)
The San Diego North office has an opening for a full-time legal secretary to provide high level executive support to attorneys with Insolvency and Real Estate practices. The assistant routinely is responsible for handling sensitive and confidential information. In addition to the specific tasks associated with supporting bankruptcy matters, the secretary maintains attorney calendars and contacts, arranges for internal and external meetings, supports the client billing process and coordinates travel arrangements.
The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in a law firm supporting complex bankruptcy and bankruptcy litigation matters. Extensive knowledge and experience with ECF filings in State, Federal District and Bankruptcy District courts throughout California. Central and Northern Bankruptcy District experience is required. Specific experience must also include knowledge of court rules, familiarity with various Districts’ court forms, managing litigation and bankruptcy litigation dockets, accessing data from PACER and ensuring accuracy of large and rapidly changing service lists. Experience in a fast paced environment where priorities can change frequently is also required.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate sound judgment, discretion, initiative and creative problem solving on a daily basis. Effective oral and written communication skills with strong knowledge of grammar and spelling are required. The ability to maintain a professional and proactive approach to all situations is an essential trait. Required experience must include supporting multiple attorneys with a variety of practice needs and work styles. The successful candidate will have experience working remotely with attorneys and staff in multiple offices. They will be required to share their expertise and serve as a resource on bankruptcy filings and have the flexibility to do so often without advance notice.
Proficiency with Word, Outlook and Excel is required. A college degree preferred and a certification from an ABA accredited paralegal program is highly desired. Overtime is required.
