Director of Marketing Communications (2543)
The Director of Marketing Communications is responsible for presenting a meaningful, differentiated and consistent story about our offices, practices, lawyers and key initiatives to our target audiences. The position promotes and protects the Pillsbury brand through development of impactful visual, digital and verbal communications to clients/prospects, recruits, alumni and other audiences, excluding the media. As a firmwide support position, this position takes a lead role with lawyers, business development/marketing and other internal staff and outside vendors to meet internal client requests and devise the best approach to meeting those requests. The person in this position develops and manages a collateral system for firmwide use, develops concepts/positioning as directed by the Sr. Director of Communications, writes and edits content for client-facing and internal materials (brochures, newsletters, announcements, invitations, advertisements, partner biographies, website content and online campaigns that target clients, prospects, law students, new partners, alumni, community members, and other opinion leaders/publications). The position works closely with both the public relations team and the internal Communications Manager to ensure consistency/synergy of messaging across all external and internal audiences and to ensure the quality, consistency and timeliness in the creation and production of communications materials and other branded touch points.
The Director of Marketing Communications manages a staff comprising five professionals, including Sr. Writers/Editors, and Graphic Designers.
Candidate must have a college degree, and at least 6 years’ relevant experience. Relevant experience includes all elements of marketing communications, including strategy, writing, project management, design and other creative execution, development, event planning, brainstorming and presenting/selling ideas.
This is a very busy, deadline driven position that requires a hands-on approach and absolute comfort with pressure and multiple competing priorities. Candidate should have a track record of success and increased responsibility in strategy development, writing/editing, branding/advertising, professional services marketing and supervising/mentoring junior talent. The candidate should have thorough knowledge of the marketing communications function and broad knowledge of the other marketing functions in the department; be able to set their own day-to-day priorities based on balancing incoming requests and overall objectives of the firm and the requestor; and be able to anticipate issues and opportunities, and address them with little or no supervision. Candidate should be able to find and effectively use data, experience and judgment to formulate realistic and sound points of view; be able to develop and make formal presentations to lawyers and other groups throughout the firm; and have the ability to maintain positive relationships with firm leaders, partners, marketing colleagues and superiors.
