Chief Strategy Officer (2547)
The Chief Strategy Officer will develop and execute Pillsbury’s strategic vision in collaboration with our Executive Team, our Board and our practice and industry leaders. This individual will help develop and implement internal and external strategies to enhance engagement and increase firm service and penetration among clients. The successful candidate will be a forward thinking executive with a proven track record of leading initiatives that increased revenue and enhanced market position. This position reports to the Chair of the Firm.
Responsibilities of the position include: in collaboration with the firm Chair and Managing Partner, develop strategic, overarching positioning strategy, priorities and framework for the firm, and the detailed multi-year strategic plan; formalize and lead the strategic planning process, focusing on long term trends and outlook, and competitive intelligence; facilitate the execution of our strategic priorities by working collaboratively with the Executive Team members and the Board to ensure that the priorities are effectively communicated and understood by stakeholders; ensure that strategic actions are completed at various levels to achieve desired results; lead efforts on product innovation/research and development to create unique offerings that distinguish Pillsbury from our competitors and address client needs; act as a key advisor to Chair and Managing Partner on critical changes in the competitive landscape, global marketplace and external business environment; engage external business and industry experts to learn and influence business strategies, constantly remaining alert to and forward-thinking about opportunities and risks in the industry; develop strong working relationships with Firm leaders to further cement a recently introduced matrix organizational structure designed to drive revenue and expand work; collaborate with Pricing & Legal Practice Management Solutions team, Partner Hiring & Integration Committee, Talent Development and other stakeholders within the firm; develop systems to analyze the quality and profitability of practice section work; regularly analyze and report results, and identify future opportunities to improve effectiveness; consistently research and stay abreast of industry trends and recommend new practices, strategies and approaches that will advance the progress of the Firm; prioritize and align resources to manage expectations while driving specific strategic initiatives; oversee all people, processes and systems of the Marketing Department, including business development and sales, marketing communications, business intelligence and client services.
Candidate should have 15+ years of experience in strategic planning, business analysis and research, and financial reporting within a professional services setting. A Masters of Business Administration is preferred. The successful candidate will possess demonstrated skills in leadership, management, and collaboration; be a seasoned professional, with a strong strategy orientation, who has previously held several business and operational roles in fast paced and complex environments; have the ability to apply a variety of strategic frameworks to analyze problems and to guide and develop solutions; possess a strong executive presence, presentation and communication skills; have excellent analytical skills and ability to facilitate problem-solving processes from identification and analysis to solution; be able to inspire individuals at all levels of the organization, and work as part of a team. Must be familiar increasing revenue while maintaining a comprehensive and cohesive brand or identity. Candidate should have experience managing seasoned business professionals and a track record of effectively executing short and long-term projects. Work experience should include success in a period of growth and/or transition.
