Business Development Manager-Global Sourcing/IP (2508)

Pillsbury’s Marketing Department is seeking a Business Development Manager to work with a number of the firm’s innovative practices. This position will primarily support the Global Sourcing & Technology Transactions practice as well as work closely with Pillsbury’s Intellectual Property practice. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for implementing a broad array of BD initiatives to help grow business in these areas. The position, based in the Firm’s Washington, DC office, reports to the Senior Business Development Manager for these practices, who is located in the Northern Virginia office. The Business Development Manager will operate relatively independently, working directly with partners and colleagues in a global law firm environment with approximately 700 lawyers and 20 worldwide offices.

The Business Development Manager will have access to support for a variety of business development tasks from business development coordinators and other resources located in Pillsbury’s global operations center in Nashville, TN.

The Manager is responsible for developing and executing marketing ideas/plans and tactics to help develop new business with current and prospective clients, including identification of cross-selling opportunities within the firm and building awareness of and interest in the Global Sourcing practice and its lawyers both within the firm and among external target audiences.

The successful candidate should have 5+ years’ marketing experience in the third-party supplier, legal or professional services industry and a demonstrable track record of increasing responsibilities and proven results/ROI. Candidate should have strong organization skills in time management, project management as well as the ability and flexibility to meet multiple, competing and often changing deadlines and have the ability to design and drive business development opportunities and events required. Successful candidate will have keen ability to “connect dots” -- draw conclusions, assess implications and make key recommendations; must be able to assess and recommend priorities most likely to build business. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and sound judgment are critical to success of the candidate, as are collegial, collaborative and team player attributes.
