Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP is seeking a IT Trainer that will provide technology training services and support to the Pillsbury offices from the firm’s Nashville Global Operations Center. The training model primarily utilizes a remote training approach with associated tools for formal classroom and one-on-one methods. Some training is delivered on site via formal classroom or one-on-one sessions. Participate in the full range of training activities, including needs analysis, development of course curricula, training materials, eLearning modules and delivery of training. Assist in the testing and evaluation of new software as required, and serve as a training resource to the various groups and departments within the Firm. The candidate will also work closely with the local Technical Support teams, providing end-user desktop support when necessary. Be responsible for periodic visits to assigned offices providing follow-up and next level training working with local Office Administrators and teams. Depending on the assigned offices, the shift will be Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 6:00 pm or 10:00 am – 7:00 pm, Central time.
Responsibilities include providing training on various computer programs to all employees of the Firm; developing training manuals, quick reference materials, and eLearning videos in accordance with IT/Training Group standards; posting training content to the online learning center and ensuring content is kept up to date; assisting with testing and evaluation of new software; providing assistance with troubleshooting and end-user software problems and answering questions related to the use of the firm’s software programs; assuming primary training responsibility for designated offices and providing backup for other trainers in their assigned offices as needed; assisting local technical support teams with end-user issues as needed; responding to and addressing office and user training requests; working with the Training Manager and team to continually assess and refine New Hire training and providing follow up for new hires within their own training region; soliciting student evaluations upon completion of training; maintaining strong technical and training knowledge and skills and staying abreast of the industry; using the firm’s ticketing system to create and respond to escalated training tickets; attending weekly trainers’ meetings; participating in professional training groups/events; and traveling to the firm’s offices as needed for new hire training and project rollout training and support.
Candidate should have a minimum two years’ experience as a technical trainer and instructional designer, preferably in a legal environment. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Experience must include strong knowledge of Windows-based systems, Microsoft Office 2010/2016, a third-party document management system, and common ancillary legal document tools. Strong knowledge of Captivate is preferred. Successful candidate will have extensive experience preparing online training and print documentation, outstanding written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, a professional demeanor, the ability to communicate clearly and easily with people at all levels within the firm, advanced technical knowledge and technical problem solving skills, excellent platform skills, an understanding of adult learning principles, and the ability to adjust instructional methods to best meet the needs of the students. Candidate must also possess patience, a commitment to quality, enthusiasm, and reliability; be self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented; work well independently and as part of a team to meet goals and deadlines; and have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and excel under pressure. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift/move a computer or monitor, crawl under tables or desks to access power outlets, and read text on various size computer monitors and mobile devices.
